Early morning on the 06/12/2009 I made up a pack lunch and a flask full of coffee and made my way to Wagtail Farm. This is a farm at Halford in Warickshire and the owner opens up sections of his land to those that want to go and do a bit of off-roading. At £20 a go, you can spend the day there having fun getting muddy and testing your 4x4 to some good extremes. The Canal Run being one that you should never really attempt to do unless you know you have a good vehicle to run through muddy water so deep that it runs over your bonnet. Good door seals are a must as well, as the cab will fill with water. On the whole though, the whole site is good for any sort of 4x4 to go and test your skills in getting it round the site. I went on a very wet day, which made it very had to get going and stay in motion. Normally its me that has to get pulled out of the mud somewhere along the line, but on this day I was the one pulling some of the others out off the mud. Having a better set of tyres helped me no end. A set of Grizzly Claws on Wolf Rims worked good for me at Wagtail. I also had a go at the "See-Saw". Drive up to the point of balance and wait for it to tip over and drive down the other side. Here's plenty of photos to look at. Just keep scrolling down and click on "next" at the bottom of each page to take you to another. Also, as you run your mouse over each photo, another photo will show. Have fun Browsing.
Here's a few 4x4's at the start of the day. Note how clean they all look.
A Group Chat just so we all know where to go and know a few rules of the site.
Mine is the Old Series III and in contrast, a lot newer and modified 90.
First thing I tried was the "See-Saw". Run your mouse/curser over the photo to see me going down the other side.
Shaun having a go at the See-Saw.
Jordan and his sister Courtney came with me for a ride.
Off we went for a trek around the site. Me, Courtney, Jordan and my two dogs.
Getting a bit side-ways on a bit of a steep section.
Once in the dip, I just had to keep going to get out again.
A bit of wheel spin and out of the sticky hole we went.
Out on sort of safer ground.
Here's Dave TDI in Good Actions shots.
Dave TDI in Action.
Dave TDI going for a dip with Neil H taking an action shot.
Dave TDI pushing through the little puddle.
So now it's Mark Solesbury's turn for a dip in the little puddle.
Nice bow wave from Mark Solesbury.
A quick discussion on where to go next. . . . Go on Ashley Dingle, get in the puddle.
Ashley Dingle and his Vitara has a go at the same little puddle.
The Suzuki Vitara did well for a petrol powered motor.
Nick Reddwarf9 just kept on getting stuck because of having the wrong tyres on.
Here's Mark Solesbury just making everything look easy.
Just nice and easy with no fuss.
Say Cheese and smile for the camera. Courtney and I just passing.
It's aahh, um, er, , , , Jordan....... posing.
Ian Pagainstar found he had a knocking from under his motor. He later found that it was a knackered Shock absorber bush.
It's getting a bit muddy now. Fun and Mud always go together.
Here's Dave TDI climbing out of another muddy hole.
And another posey shot.
Dave TDI just having a bit of fun. I'll be up loading a few more photos at a later date, when I get the time. |
