On the 22 November 2009 Charlie and I went out for a Fun Day Out on a Punch & Play Day. Organised by members of the Northant's 4x4 Response Team
A 45 minute drive from Northampton to Great Brickhill, Milton Keynes, saw us at the site by 9:30am. Once booked in, we got our card attached to our vehicle and we was ready to play. The idea is to get your card punched with different punches, which are at fixed points around the play site. You have to drive around the site and find the markers and the punch and punch your card. You are not allowed to move the punch or take your card to the punch. You have to drive as close to the punch as needed to reach your card with the punch. Each punch gives a different mark on the card and each punch has a number to match the numbers on the card. 20 punches to get and you are timed on how quick your are to get them all. Charlie and I went all out to try and get them all, but couldn't find some and some were just impossible to get without a winch. But it was all about having fun at the end of the day, so not getting all the punches wasn't no big loss, but would have been nice all the same. Here's a few photo's of the "Old Series III" and a few of the others that attended the day as well. A good time was had by all. The Trophy everyone was trying to win.
Went in and it wouldn't go up. Bottomed out cause it's too long for some obstacles.
I got pulled out by Ian, Pagenstar.
Jordan punching my card for me. He came for the ride and helped out no end.
And then through the muddy hole.
Ian Pagenstar found a punch and tried to get to it and found a big hole in the ground and fell in. A bit of a scary moment, as we thought it was going to topple over onto its side.
It did look good though. Made a great photo opportunity.
He was soon pulled out, but it took two vehicles to get him out.
After Ian's scary moment was over, we went on our way to find another punch. Found a few slopes on the way.
Found lots of mud as well.
Found a marker and punch up a steep slope. You can just see the yellow and black tape marker on the right side of the photo.
Half-way there, still going up.
Finally at the marker and punch.
Back down the slope again.
Off out of the way for another to try.
Ian's turn to try for the punch.
He made it look so easy, as the Disco went straight up the slope.
Found a bit of open field to let the dogs out for a run-a-round. So I took a few posy photo's while I was there and had a break for a coffee and a sandwich. ![]() After our break, we headed off towards the woods.
Found another punch right next to a tree.
Bit of a hard one to do without driving/sliding into the tree.
Found some more mud to drive through.
Proper sloppy shite.
Here's some more of the slippy and slidy stuff called mud.
Another moment getting towed out of the sticky mud.
here's a few photo's of some of the others that took part in the fun.
I hope you liked the photos and I must remind myself to take more photos when I'm out. Cheers and thanks for looking. |
